What's your MBTI?: Explorers
By Juniper Buley

Every week in February we'll be posting a discussion on one of the four big personality types in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator - a collection of 16 different personality types that can help you figure out what you're best inclined towards in work or life! Figuring out whether you're a decision-making leader a number-crunching analyst or a kind-hearted mediator can help you slide right into your role and feel comfortable doing what you love.
All done? Great! Now read on to find out more about this week's featured personality type: the Explorers!
The four personality types included under the banner of the Explorers are ISTP, ISFP, ESTP and ESFP - the Virtuoso, Adventurer, Entrepreneur and the Entertainer. These four types are bonded by their S (Sensing) and P (Perceiving) personality types, making them extremely people-oriented and sensitive to other's emotions and needs! The Explorers are united in their desire to make sure that everyone else around them is happy and well-cared for - a pretty admirable goal, in our opinion!
Let's go into a bit more detail about each of the four Explorer, to see exactly what kind of jobs Skillsroad reckons you'll be best at.
Like the name hints, Virtuosos are geniuses at performing all sorts of skills. Not just musically gifted, they can pick up pretty much any tool and make a masterpiece with it - whether it's carpentry, painting, writing, or anything else! If you're a Virtuoso, you probably have a few projects going on at once, and you're the person your friends turn to when they need help fixing something or making something pretty. And you love doing it, too! Though you're a bit of an introvert, the smile on other people's faces when they see what you've created is basically the whole reason you do it.
If you're a Virtuoso, we reckon you're going to be best at anything that lets you hang out on your own, crafting and creating stuff that wows the masses! You're very clever and handy with your tools, so you're best inclined towards skills-based roles. A resident artist or pottery maker, or working as a set maker for a theatre: a mechanic or electrical engineer, or an author. You could even work well as a scientist or inventor, considering the fact you probably love problem-solving and taking things apart to see how they tick!
If you're an Adventurer, then you'll know the true pain of being 'boxed in' to something - you probably took one look at this test and said "There's no way they'll be able to figure me out". And you might be right - you're a spontaneous person who likes to experiment with everything, and you probably find you're a different person from one day to the next! But that just means that each day is a new adventure, and you love facing the morning with bright eyes and no idea what to expect. The thrill of it makes your heart race!
In our humble opinion, Adventurers are best suited in roles where they can really express their chameleonic ability to fit in everywhere and anywhere. They've got their fingers in a lot of pies and they're all tasty! You'd do great as an influencer on Instagram, Youtube or Tiktok, where your ability to experiment with form keeps you fresh and on trend. You'd also make a great athlete, especially in extreme sports - or a professional poker player! Really, you'll thrive in any position that keeps your heart rate up and your mind engaged - always finding new things to do.
These guys need no introduction. You're probably already following a hundred of them, keeping an eye on their million-dollar grindsets and replicating their path to success. You're an Entrepreneur, just like those guys on TikTok, and you're gonna do great things, baby! However, Entrepreneurs aren't always about accumulating money (though that's definitely high up on their list of #goals): they also care about making connections with people in the business world, gathering up knowledge and constantly upskilling themselves, and always bettering themselves from one day to the next. Keeping fit, educated and friendly is the Entrepreneur's core motto.
If you're an Entrepreneur, you probably know what I'm going to say: you'd do great running your own small business or start-up! But you probably might not consider that there are other roles that an entrepreneur is great for - you guys make amazing teachers and professors, due to all that knowledge you've stored up; you're great actors and comedians, calling on your life experiences and your love of the spotlight; and your loud voices and sliiiiight bending of the rules makes you great as advocates for social causes you care about. Whatever you do, hit the ground running, Entrepreneurs!
Ah, the Entertainer: a vibrant, outgoing social butterfly. You probably got involved in musicals in high school or maybe even in your further studies, and you have a Spotify playlist for every emotion. You're the kind of person who's the first to leap in and offer your time and energy to others, since people are at the core of your being. You just like making other people happy and smile and cheer while you perform - that's what you do it for. You're also probably the life of any party you go to, and you're usually the funny one in your friend group to boot.
As an Entertainer, there's some obvious career paths - singing, dancing, acting, or even being the triple threat. But Entertainers also have some surprising other talents which they can draw on to be the best in the professional world as well. Using their sunny dispositions and way of connecting with anyone, they would do great as secretaries or other administrative work, or working as a fashion or interior designer to explore your natural creativity - the fact that you don't care too much what others think of you helps as well! You're also naturally a people-watcher, so going into the sciences as an anthropologist would suit you just fine.
